Artist / Abolitionist rocks in Times Square
Lamont Hiebert performed at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square NY with multi-platinum selling artists Natasha Bedingfield and special guest Sean Kingston. The concert was held on November 6, 2007, and was in conjunction with the launch of Global Angels USA - a unique and dynamic charity supporting and impacting children’s causes across the globe. Lamont signified his commitment to be a ‘Global Angel” during the “Step Up America” campaign and celebrity photo shoot which was transmitted onto the NASDAQ, MTV and Reuters screens from the historic Paramount Theatre.

Lamont has been growing in his role and influence as an artist / abolitionist ever since he became engaged in the issue of child trafficking and slavery in the late 1990’s. As an artist he fronted the band Ten Shekel Shirt and quietly sold 150,000 units from 2000 – 2003 while supporting various anti-slavery organizations. He then put his music career on “pause” to co-found Justice for Children International in order to provide aftercare for rescued child slaves and to prevent child abductions by human traffickers. JFCI was recently the recipient of the 2007 Myspace Impact Award for Social Justice and was featured in GQ Magazine as part of their Gentlemen’s Fund. (JFCI is now called LOVE 146)
Lamont promises more events like the one in Times Square. “I have been playing at grassroots events all over the country for years now merging my particular brand of rock n roll and justice. It’s nice to link up with A-level entities like Global Angels and the Hard Rock Café. We will do many more events like these around the world in the coming years. As the public outcry for human rights grows so will corporate interest and the necessary political will to abolish modern-day slavery and other forms of exploitation and injustice.”
